What is money actually in current times ?

What is money actually in current times ?

History of Money - http://www.xat.org/xat/moneyhistory.html

The below article is titled "The Federal Reserve is a Private Bank" and gives a brief overview of what the Fed really is, and about the great power that rests with it - the ability to issue currency.

If the article seemed interesting, then watching the below documentary is the next step. Titled "THE MONEY MASTERS", the below historical documentary was made sometime in 90s. Extremely long but extremely interesting as well, it details what the effects of 'private central banks' have been over the last 300 years of history, 'private' being the key word here. And it proposes monetary reforms to correct this problem.

To me, recent news articles suggesting IMF's SDRs to replace the dollar as the global currency, and proposals to give even more power to the Federal Reserve, seem to be predictions made by the documentary that are coming true.

Edit - Dec 9th 2009 - The intent of the World Bank to regulate 'climate-change finance' is mentioned here - http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/dec/08/copenhagen-climate-summit-disarray-danish-text
"Hill continued: "It proposes a green fund to be run by a board but the big risk is that it will run by the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility [a partnership of 10 agencies including the World Bank and the UN Environment Programme] and not the UN."
